Limbaugh, Vick share some common traits

Has anyone noticed that many of the same people who don't want radio personality Rush Limbaugh to be allowed to buy an NFL team are the same people who were so anxious to give convicted felon and animal abuser Michael Vick another chance to play in the league? In my opinion, the day the NFL commissioner let Vick play football again is the day the league lost any right to prevent anyone from being a part of the league, including Rush Limbaugh.

These self-absorbed men are no friends to animals and probably have little positive value to society in any capacity. In my opinion, they are both broken and manipulative human beings. Limbaugh has a history of making anti-animal activist comments, not to mention some questionable racial statements. And Vick, now playing with the Philadelphia Eagles, went to jail for running a dog-fighting business in Virginia. Is anyone buying that he is truly remorseful? Seems to me he just wants another lucrative Nike contract.

Would be nice if both of these rotten apples would disappear. Instead, they continue to make millions doing what they do.

  1. I firmly support humane treatment for animals, but I completely agree with Limbaugh's position that a number of animal activists (of the PETA ilk) are nut cases and do more harm than good for their cause.

I can't speak to whether he is a bigot because I can't see into the man's heart, but he's certainly been demonized as one for so long that everyone just assumes it's true. The thing is, you would be hard-pressed to find any racist remarks Limbaugh has ever made. The media has been busy the last few days attributing some nasty quotes to him that he never made and were first posted anonymously on Wikipedia.

I'll concede that the comment he made years ago about the Eagles quarterback was idiotic--but even that remark was a slam on the easy treatment the media was giving the quarterback and not a comment about the man himself.

Limbaugh should have expected the firestorm his bid for the Rams created. He's a vicious man and has made a lot of enemies over the years. It was payback time, and he walked right into it.

The party currently in power would be wise to be careful in their attempts to villify the likes of Mr. Limbaugh, and the talking heads on Fox News however. I don't think they have a clue how disgusted people in the heartland are right now. It's mostly the economy that has people worked up, but they are also disgusted by the heavy handed and amateurish tactics the left is using as they attempt to govern.

I'm a moderate who voted for Obama, so I'm no radical right winger. But from what I can see, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the House return to a Republican majority in the mid-term election.

The Democrats own the White House and both houses of Congress. This is their big chance and they might be blowing it.

  2. I agree the Dems are blowing it. In my view, they aren't paying enough attention to getting people back to work. And Obama hasn't cleaned up the problems in Corporate America, where extreme greed at the very top continues to threaten jobs at the lower and middle levels. If people aren't working or don't feel secure in their jobs, there is no way the Dems will stay in power for long.
